NTPC’s big initiative regarding Sinnar Thermal Power
NTPC Limited and Maharashtra State Power Generation Company have taken an important step related to the acquisition of Sinnar Thermal Power Limited (STPL). Both the companies have signed the shareholders’ agreement on January 9, 2026. Whose information has been given by NTPC to the stock exchange.
NTPC and MSPGC had jointly presented a joint plan for the acquisition of STPL. Which has been approved by the National Company Law Tribunal based in Delhi on 28 November 2025. STPL has a 1,350 MW coal based thermal power plant located at Sinnar in Nashik district of Maharashtra. Which includes five units of 270-270 MW.
NTPC’s capacity will increase after the deal
NTPC and Maharashtra State Power Generation Company are going to have equal stake in this deal. Both will have 50-50 percent stake in this deal worth about Rs 3,800 crore.
After getting approval from NCLT, this acquisition will be completed within 90 days. After this deal, the total power generation capacity of NTPC Group is expected to increase to 86,987 MW.
Condition of shares on BSE
There was a decline in NTPC shares on BSE on Friday, January 9. The company shares ended the trading day at Rs 336.05, down 2.34 percent or Rs 8.05. The shares started the day at Rs 343.95.
Talking about the 52-week high level of company shares, during this period the shares had touched the figure of Rs 371.10. Whereas the low level of 52 weeks is Rs 292.70.
