Navi Mumbai International Airport: India’s renowned industrialist Gautam Adani on Wednesday said that Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIAL) is not only an infrastructure project but will also become the “gateway” to India’s economic future. Comparing this airport to “Lotus”, he said that it is a symbol of the country’s progress, self-reliance and modernity.

Gautam Adani shared a detailed article on LinkedIn after the inauguration of Navi Mumbai International Airport by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He described it as a historic moment in India’s infrastructure building journey and wrote – “This airport is a testament to India’s visionary leadership and the strength of public-private partnerships.”

Project completed in less than 50 months for Rs 20,000 crore

Adani said that this project has been completed in less than 50 months with an investment of Rs 20,000 crore. This airport is connected to the existing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport of Mumbai, which will reduce air traffic congestion in Mumbai and give impetus to new economic activities in the region.

This project is expected to create more than 2 lakh jobs. Besides, this airport will also promote tourism, trade and new business corridors. Adani said that this project will help India reach the goal of becoming a 10 trillion dollar ($10,000 billion) economy.

Symbol of ‘self-reliance and green development’

In his article, Adani specifically mentioned the environment-friendly measures adopted at the airport. He said – “The new airport is a symbol of self-reliance, which reflects India’s heritage and future aspirations.” Describing it as “the essence of modern India”, he said that it is “ancient in knowledge, but modern and limitless in ambition”.

Adani said that his group’s commitment is to strengthen nation building, aviation, logistics, green energy and digital infrastructure. “It will always be our greatest honor to serve India. The new airport is not just a project but a ‘sacred responsibility’ which we have undertaken with reverence, humility and values.”

“Every flight will carry the blessings of 1.4 billion Indians”

Adani said emotionally – “Every flight that departs from these runways will carry the blessings of 1.4 billion Indians, and every arrival will remind the world that – this is India’s time.” Adani said his vision when laying the foundation stone of the project in September 2021 was to “build a world-class gateway that reflects the ambition of India and the energy of Mumbai.” He said that today, that dream has come true. This airport will not only reduce Mumbai’s congestion, but will also open new doors of prosperity and empowerment for the entire Western India.
