Satya Nedella Messages to Microsoft Staffs: Microsoft has trimmed more than 15 thousand staff so far in the year 2025. Apart from this, about 2 thousand staff have been told to go to go as ‘underperformers’. This is the biggest pruning in Microsoft after the year 2014 i.e. during the last ten years. Meanwhile, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said that now it is not enough to identify the company only as a software factory. Announcing a major change in the coming time, he said that it is to move beyond that image to create an ‘intelligence engine’, which makes artificial intelligence easier for all.

Not just a software factory is enough

Nadella says that the mission has to be defined according to the new era. In a memo sent to the employees, Nadella wrote that when Bill Gates founded Microsoft, he had imagined not just a software company but a factory that was not limited to any one product or category.

Nadella said that Microsoft will now give less emphasis on creating software products prepared under this change and more emphasis on creating such AI systems, so that users themselves can design their applications and intelligent tools.

What will happen?

Microsoft CEO says that it is not a matter of creating a tool for the task of a particular role, but is a matter of making tools that give everyone the strength to make their tools. To complete this vision, every layer of tech stack for Microsoft AI- such app platform, infrastructure, apps and agents- will renew it.
