A very important and big news related to India’s stock market has come to light. Market regulator SEBI has made a new and big proposal for Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs), which can change the picture of the Indian market in the coming times. Till now, foreign investors had to separately settle every purchase and sale made in a single day, which increased their funding cost and operational pressure significantly. But under the new “Netting System” of SEBI, buy and sell trades will be adjusted among themselves and only the final net position will be settled. SEBI believes that this change will increase operational efficiency, reduce funding costs and make the Indian market more attractive for foreign investors. This proposal has come at a time when foreign outflows are being seen from India due to high US tariffs, weak corporate earnings and expensive valuations. Along with this, SEBI is continuously working on reforms to speed up the FPI registration process, increase market depth and bring back the confidence of global investors. The question is – will this step divert foreign investment back to India? Please watch the video for complete information.
