Retail inflation: The common man has been relieved on the inflation front in the country. India’s retail inflation has come down to 1.55 percent this month due to the fall in the prices of food items in the month of July. This is the lowest in the last eight years.
According to government data, this is the lowest level of retail inflation since June 2017. Retail inflation in July was lower than the 2.1 percent of June this year, 55 basis points, which is the lowest level of retail inflation since January 2019.
Inflation in negative zone
In July this year, food inflation came down to the negative zone of -1.76 percent over the same month. Food inflation has also fallen by 75 basis points in July as compared to June. Food is the lowest level of inflation since January 2019. The decline in main inflation and food inflation during July 2025 is the reason for the declining prices of pulses, vegetables, grains, eggs and sugar.
The food inflation rate of July is the lowest since January 2019. In July, rural inflation declined from 1.72 % of June to 1.18 percent, while urban inflation declined from 2.56 % to 2.05 %. Housing inflation remained almost stable at 3.17 percent, education inflation decreased from 4.37 percent to 4 percent and health inflation increased from 4.38 % to 4.57 percent in a month ago.
The lowest inflation in these states
The highest inflation in Kerala has been jointly reduced, which was recorded at 8.89 percent. After that Jammu and Kashmir (3.77 percent), Punjab (3.53 percent), Karnataka (2.73 percent) and Maharashtra (2.28 percent) were ranked. Along with this, transport and communication inflation decreased from 3.90 percent of June to 2.12 percent in July, while fuel and light inflation increased slight from 2.55 % to 2.67 percent.
