Hinduja Group chairman Gopichand Parmanand Hinduja No More: Gopichand P. Hinduja, chairman of Hinduja Group, one of the world’s largest business houses and famous industrialist, has passed away in London. According to sources close to the family, 85-year-old Gopichand Hinduja was unwell for the last few weeks and breathed his last during treatment.

Known as ‘GP’ in the industry

Gopichand Hinduja, affectionately known as ‘GP Hinduja’ in the business world, played a key role in establishing the Hinduja Group as a global empire. He, along with his elder brother Srichand Hinduja, expanded the group’s business into sectors like automobile, banking, energy, IT, infrastructure and healthcare.

Gopichand Hinduja took over the reins of the group after the death of his elder brother Srichand Hinduja in May 2023. It was the second generation of the Hinduja family, which took this business legacy established in 1914 to new heights.

Gopichand Hinduja is survived by his wife Sunita Hinduja, sons Sanjay Hinduja and Dheeraj Hinduja, and daughter Rita Hinduja. His son Dheeraj Hinduja is already the chairman of Hinduja Automotive Limited and is leading the group’s operations.

Strong foundation for global business

The Hinduja Group, which has its roots in India but is headquartered in London, does business in more than 30 countries around the world. The estimated assets of the group are considered to be more than 100 billion dollars.

There is a wave of mourning in the global industry due to the demise of Gopichand Hinduja. He is being remembered as a visionary entrepreneur, a symbol of balance of tradition and modernity and a personality who glorified India’s business heritage globally.
