Nepal Travel Currency Rules: India’s neighboring country Nepal has decided to remove the 10-year-old ban on Indian currency. Indian 200 and 500 rupee notes have been given the green signal by the Government of Nepal.

Now the problem of exchanging currency while traveling to Nepal will be reduced to a great extent. People visiting Nepal will benefit greatly from this decision. Now they can keep Indian currency with them up to the prescribed limit. This decision of Nepal government is expected to give a boost to Nepal’s tourism industry.

Permission granted to carry 200 and 500 rupee notes

A big and important decision was taken in the important meeting of Nepal Cabinet held on Monday. Under this, now citizens of India and Nepal can keep Indian notes of Rs 200 and 500 with them while travelling. This decision has been taken after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) relaxed the rules related to carrying large currency for traveling to neighboring countries.

However, the government has also set conditions for this. Passengers will be allowed to carry with them large Indian currency notes of maximum Rs 25,000. It is expected that after the government’s decision, travel will become easier. Besides, trade activities between India and Nepal will also strengthen.

Trade will increase in Nepalese markets

Due to this restriction on Indian currency, many travelers were able to spend only limited money while visiting Nepal. Due to which Nepal’s tourism sector was suffering losses. Due to this step of the government, there was a decline in the business of casinos, big hotels and markets adjacent to the border in Nepal.

However, now with this change it is expected that Nepal’s tourism sector can once again gain momentum. Also, due to having more cash in hand, tourists will be able to make more purchases than before.
