Market Update: FIIs and DIIs Net Buyers on June 14
On June 14, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) and Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) were net buyers, acquiring equities worth Rs 2,176 crore. Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) also showed buying interest, net purchasing equities worth Rs 656 crore.
Provisional data from the exchanges indicates that FIIs bought equities worth Rs 15,691 crore and sold Rs 13,515 crore. In contrast, DIIs bought shares worth Rs 11,876 crore and sold equities totaling Rs 11,220 crore.
At the market close, the Sensex was up by 0.24 percent, or 182 points, finishing at 76,992.77. The Nifty also ended higher by 0.29 percent, or 66.7 points, closing at 23,465.60.
“Positive global cues, coupled with sustained domestic buying, helped the market reach yet another high. Activity was strong in the broader market, with the Midcap 100 and Smallcap 100 indices gaining between 0.8 to 1.0 percent. There was notable buying interest in sectors such as autos, metals, real estate, oil & gas, defense, and shipbuilding stocks,” said Siddhartha Khemka, Head of Retail Research at Motilal Oswal Financial Services.
So far this year, FIIs have net sold shares worth Rs 134,724 crore, while DIIs have been net buyers, acquiring shares worth Rs 223,292 crore.
