This year, the last date for filing non-audit returns was extended from July 31 to September 15 due to delay in release of updated ITR form. The number of returns submitted so far is less than last year. By July 31, 2024, 7.6 crore ITRs were deposited. Till 13 September, this year the number was about six crores.

Demand to increase deadline
