Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced a budget of ₹80,952 Crore for 2026-27, which is 8.77% more than last year. It is clearly visible in this budget that the focus is on strengthening infrastructure, roads and basic services. There is heavy allocation for coastal roads, major roads, bridges and traffic projects, with focus also on water supply, sewerage treatment and storm water drainage. ₹7,456 Crore has been earmarked for the health sector, which includes hospitals expansion, TB control and AI-based diabetic eye checkups. For education and environment, work will be done on schools upgrade, air pollution control and electric sweepers. Revenue sources include property tax, development fees and octroi compensation.
