India US trade talks: Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal gave information about the bilateral trade agreement between India and America in a press conference on Saturday. He said that talks between the two countries are going on at a positive level. He has also informed that the Central Government will not make any kind of compromise regarding the interests of the farmers, fishermen and small enterprises (MSMEs) of the country.
Full care will be taken of India’s farmers, fishermen and MSME sector. He said that the interest of the country is supreme. Recently, an Indian delegation had gone to Washington. Where Indian representatives met American officials.
What did the Commerce Minister say?
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, while talking to journalists, gave a clear message that the Indian government will never compromise with the interests of its farmers. This statement has come at a time when America has imposed 50 percent tariff on India. America had also demanded concessions in the agricultural sector. Which has not been accepted by the Government of India. However, Goyal said that India and the US have friendly relations and described the bilateral trade agreement between the two countries as positive. Last month, Goyal himself traveled to New York with a team on a trade agreement.
Recently a team of Indian representatives had gone to Washington. These meetings, which lasted for 3 days, ended on 17 October. The team was led by Commerce Secretary Rajesh Aggarwal. According to the information received, this discussion between the two countries was very positive. Also, consensus has been reached on many issues in earlier visits also. Let us tell you that till now five rounds of talks have taken place.
