GST 2.0 India 2025: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman held a press conference on Saturday, October 18 regarding GST 2.0. On the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras, Nirmala Sitharaman held a joint press conference with Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. During this, he informed the journalists about the changes brought about by GST reform. The Finance Minister discussed with journalists about the increased shopping and consumers during the festive season.

What did Nirmala Sitharaman say?

Giving information, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that GST 2.0 was implemented on the first day of Navratri and all the countrymen have accepted it with full enthusiasm. He further said that the Central Government has monitored 54 essential commodities. In which after tax deduction, its direct benefits have reached the consumers. According to the Finance Minister, GST reform will increase the purchasing power of customers, which will provide additional support of about Rs 2 lakh crore to the economy.

GST 2.0 is having an impact on people’s pockets and they are able to save more than before. The government has named GST 2.0 as ‘GST Bachat Utsav’. During the press conference, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said that Prime Minister Modi and the Finance Minister should be thanked for this step. He further said that the government has ensured the arrival of Goddess Lakshmi in every house by giving double benefit. He has described GST 2.0 as the biggest reform after the country’s independence. Due to which investment and trade have got new momentum.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that in the last 9 days of September, a tremendous jump has been recorded in shopping across India. Talking about passenger vehicle category, it reached 3.72 lakh units. At the same time, sales of two-wheelers touched the figure of 21.60 lakh units. Also, the sales of three-wheelers increased by 5.5 percent as compared to last year. He said that due to GST reform, the sales of television sets also increased by 30 to 35 percent. The sales of air conditioners doubled. Along with this, an increase has also been recorded in the sales of FMCG products.
