Nita Ambani received KISS Humanitarian Award, honored for everything from education to women empowerment.

Reliance Foundation Founder and Chairperson Nita M. Ambani was honored with the prestigious KISS Humanitarian Award 2025 at the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) campus last Monday (March 16).

Sri Lankan Nobel laureate Mohan Munasinghe presented him the award in the presence of Dr. Achyuta Samanta, founder of KIIT, KISS and KIMS. She was given this award in recognition of her significant contribution to social development in the fields of education, healthcare, rural transformation, women empowerment and sports promotion. KISS is the world’s largest tribal university, providing free education, accommodation and holistic development to approximately 80,000 tribal children from Kindergarten to postgraduate level.

‘There is no difference between son and daughter’

Accepting the award, Nita Ambani said in her address, “Whatever our sons can do, our daughters can also do, there is no difference between sons and daughters.” She further said, “Always remember that where you are today is your beginning, not the destination. How far you go will be determined by your dreams, your hard work and the courage to keep moving forward.

Expressing confidence in the tribal children, he said, “I have full faith that the future of India is very bright.” With this, he dedicated his award to his entire team of Reliance Foundation. During the function he also called institutions like KIIT and KISS as ‘modern temples of education’.

Who has received this honor till now?

Started by Dr. Samant in 2008, the KISS Humanitarian Award honors individuals and organizations that exemplify the spirit of humanitarian service around the world. This award includes a citation and a gold plated trophy. Over the years, this award has been given to eminent world leaders, Nobel laureates and distinguished personalities from different continents. In the past, this honor has been given to many other personalities including Ratan Tata, Revered Dalai Lama and Anirudh Jagannath.

What is Reliance Foundation?

Reliance Foundation is a charitable organization of Reliance Industries, which is associated with social service works. That means it is a part of the Reliance company, which works not for profit but for social service. It was started by Nita Ambani in the year 2010. Its major functions include rural transformation, improvement in education, health care, promotion of sports, disaster management.
