UPI Payment: If you have money in your bank account and a good internet connection, it becomes easy to make payment through UPI anytime, anywhere. Nowadays people use UPI for every small and big payment. In this you can transfer money within minutes without any hassle. For the convenience of users, UPI apps provide many types of services, about which we are often not aware. Today we are going to tell you about one such feature.

We think that to make payment through UPI, it is necessary to have money in the account, but this is not true. Even if you do not have money in your bank account, you can transfer money through UPI. How? Let us know. This service provided by UPI apps is called credit line. In a way, it is like a credit card. Through credit line, you can transact through UPI even if you do not have money in your bank account by scanning the Qr code or entering the UPI PIN.

Which banks are providing this service?

Many private banks like Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and Indian Bank are providing this service. Among government banks, Punjab National Bank (PNB) is also providing credit line facility. This is actually a kind of loan and hence banks charge interest on it. Most banks start taking interest immediately, while some banks start taking interest at the end of the month.

Know what is the process?

  • First select your UPI app.
  • Now go to the search bar of the app and search the option of ‘Credit Line’.
  • Then you will get the option of ‘Add Credit Line’. Click on it.
  • Now select your bank i.e. the bank in which you have your account.
  • After selecting the bank account, you will have to choose a UPI PIN. For this you will have to verify yourself through Aadhaar.
  • For verification, you will have to enter your Aadhaar number and the OTP received on the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar. After completion of verification, you can select your UPI PIN.
  • After setting the PIN, you can make payment by scanning the QR code or entering the PIN.
  • While making payment, you will have to choose the option of ‘Credit Line’ instead of Savings Account and then make the payment by entering the PIN.
  • The limit for payment through credit line is Rs 2000-60000.
