Amidst China’s maritime challenge and geo-economic pressure, India has launched the Great Nicobar Island Project worth ₹90,000 crore. This mega plan includes International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT), Greenfield International Airport, Smart City and hybrid power grid. This island is at a strategic location near the Strait of Malacca, due to which India can take a strong position on global trade routes. The project is expected to generate billion-dollar foreign exchange earnings and millions of jobs. This initiative can make India the new Singapore of the Indian Ocean.
